2nd Anniversary Trip

Posted by Liz Peterson on March 14, 2009

Kyle and I are back from Orlando and we had a wonderful time.  We stayed at Celebration Hotel in Celebration, FL (a town created by Disney).  The hotel was beautiful and the town was quaint.

Wednesday we arrived in town around 5:30pm after a nice drive down from Jacksonville.  We went to Olive Garden for dinner, Rita’s for dessert, and then spent the rest of the night relaxing at the hotel.

On Thursday, after a wonderful breakfast at the hotel, we “explored” the town of Celebration- it didn’t take very long!  Then we went to Congo River Golf to play some mini golf.  The only mini golf Kyle and I have ever played is at Adventure Landing… this was SO much more fun!  There were holes in caves, down steep hills, and there were even small water hazards!  After mini golf we had a quick lunch and then headed back to the hotel to rest a bit.  We headed back out around 5:30 to go to dinner and then to our Cirque Du Soleil show (“La Nouba”) at Downtown Disney.  The show was AMAZING!  It wasn’t as good as “O” in Las Vegas (the water show), but it was A LOT better than “Mystere” (also in Vegas).

Friday we slept in, had another great breakfast at the hotel, and then headed home.  The drive went nice and smooth.  We had a great time in Orlando.  It’s always nice to get away and have some quiet alone time!

New York City Ideas

Posted by Liz Peterson on January 26, 2009

Kyle and I will be celebrating our 2 year anniversary in March. We are probably going to NYC. We need some suggestions as to what to do.

We will have 4 full days in the city and will be staying in a hotel in Times Square.

Please Note:
I have been to NYC multiple times and have done a lot of things (Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Brooklyn at night to see NYC and the Brooklyn Bridge lit up, etc).

Kyle and I spent 1 full day and 1 night in NYC this past summer. We walked through Times Square at night, took one of those double-decker Greyhound tours (but it was rainy so we hardly left the bus), saw Legally Blonde: The Musical on Broadway, and went to Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center.

UPDATE: Kyle and I decided NOT to go to NYC in March.  We are hoping to go a little later in the year.

Home Sweet Home!

Posted by Liz Peterson on July 1, 2008

Kyle and I returned home yesterday afternoon around 2:00pm from a week long trip to New York City, New Jersey, and Washington, DC. I posted a blog about our day in New York. Legally Blonde: The Musical was such a great show. The theater was in Times Square which was pretty neat as well. We really enjoyed our time in NYC, but we will need to make another trip up there so we can really see things.

We left early Friday morning to head over to New Jersey. We spent some time driving around Jersey and then went to the Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner. Saturday was a hectic day, but Elaine and Aaron’s wedding was beautiful and we had a blast!

Sunday morning we headed down to Washington, DC for a few hours. When we first arrived we headed over to the White House. There were a ton of police around and much of the area was blocked off. We weren’t sure what was happening so we started to head over to the Washington Monument. When we arrived at the other end of the Eclipse, we realized the commotion was because the President was flying in. We were able to see the President coming in and land. It was a pretty cool sight!

After that we headed over to the Washington Monument and then towards the WWII Memorial, Reflecting Pool, and Lincoln Memorial. We decided to take a tour of the city, but didn’t have a ton of time so we were going to stay on the bus. Because of that, they didn’t even charge us for tickets! It was nice to see a quick tour of the city, but we couldn’t get off or on so we didn’t get to see much, but we had fun anyway!

We finally left DC around 5:30pm and headed for home. Once we were south of Richmond, VA, we hit some storms. It got pretty bad a few times. We finally stopped for the night in Fayetteville, NC (where we stayed on our way up). We left early yesterday morning so we could make it home and have time to relax.

Although Kyle and I both had a wonderful time, we are definitely glad to be back home!

New York, New York!

Posted by Liz Peterson on June 26, 2008

I am posting this from our hotel in Midtown New York City! Oh yeah… we went out of town for those of you who do not know! We are currently in New York City, we got here last night (Wednesday).

We left Jacksonville on Tuesday evening and stayed in Fayetteville, North Carolina. We drove the rest of the way yesterday. It was a pretty smoothe ride… until we hit the Lincoln Tunnel… yeah… that was great… an hour and a half to go 5 miles…

Last night we went to a nice little local restaurant, a hole in the wall (literally) called “Ralph’s” (Italian Restaraunt). Then we walked to Times Square to see the pretty lights. It was great because Kyle and his mom have never seen NYC before so it was nice for them to experience it.

Today (Thursday) is really our only day in the city so we are going to do one of those Greyline tours so we can see most of the city. Then, tonight, we are going to see Legally Blonde: The Musical. We will have tons of pictures to post.

Tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday we will be in New Jersey for my friend Elaine’s wedding. Sunday we will be leaving Jersey and heading to Washington, DC. We will only be spending a few hours there, but it should still be nice. Then we will be leaving DC and head to Richmond, VA for dinner with one of my other friends. Then, it will be off to Fayetteville, NC again for the night. Then on Monday we will be heading back home!

Back From Daytona

Posted by Kyle Peterson on June 15, 2008

Saturday morning we drove just south of Ocala to see our friends Josh and Cassidy get married. It was a very nice ceremony and I’m glad we got to be there to see it. They are going to St. Martin for their honeymoon so I hope they’re having a fun time!

We didn’t want to drive down there and back up in one day just for the wedding so we made it more of a trip by heading up to Daytona after the wedding and staying there for the night. We stayed at the Acapulco Hotel & Resort on the beach which turned out to be real nice. We got there around 5 and walked on the beach for a bit before going to Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner. After dinner we walked on the beach as the sun was setting and enjoyed the nice weather. Our room had a balcony and view of the beach so we sat on the balcony in the middle of the night and listened to the waves for a bit.

We had originally planned on going to see the lighthouse or the museum this morning but decided to just sleep in and rest. We ate at Moe’s for lunch and then finished the drive home so we could be back in Jacksonville to have Father’s Day dinner at Nero’s with our families.
