I survived my first week as a Master’s student of Michigan State. I have to admit that it didn’t really feel different. I guess that’s because all of my classes are online. Hopefully the semester goes well and I can get A’s in both of my classes!
This Friday Kyle and I are spending the night in Saint Augustine. We were blessed by someone who offered us a night in a hotel… for FREE! We couldn’t pass up the offer! I am looking forward to having some alone time with my husband. I know that once Jonathan is here, these moments will probably be few and far between.
Jonathan is rolling…not kicking, rolling… up a storm. I (affectionately) call him my “roly poly” baby! I can’t wait to meet him in about 7 weeks and see the little guy that was going crazy in my belly!
Saturday morning I have my second baby shower for Jonathan. It is my “family” shower. I not only get to spend some time with my wonderful family, but I get to see a friend whom I haven’t seen in over a year and one whom I haven’t seen in 2 1/2 years! I am so excited!
I will post again after my shower to let you (whoever, if anyone, reads this) know how it went!

So, tomorrow is officially my first day as a student of Michigan State University. It won’t feel any different though because I live in Florida and all of my classes are online! In fact, my syllibi have been posted and I have already started working on my schoolwork. Hey, it is better to be ahead than to fall behind! Hopefully this semester goes well! Wish me luck!

I don’t even know if anyone still reads our blog, but I am going to give an update on what has been happening in our lives the past few months and some things that are to come.
Baby
- The last blog I posted was announcing that our little one is a boy!
- Things have been going well in my pregnancy and I am now 29 weeks along.
- We have started Jonathan’s nursery, but still have a ways to go before it will be complete.
- I have my first baby shower next weekend and I am really excited for it! I have been to quite a few baby showers recently, but I can’t believe this one will be for me and my little one!
- Jonathan has been really active lately. It is so amazing to feel him moving around. Kyle and I love to watch my belly as Jonathan does his gymnastics! (It’s definitely NOT soccer because he does some sommersaults in there, too!)
- Kyle and I recently took a tour of the hospital where Jonathan will be delivered. It is a newer hospital and we love everything about it! There are closer hospitals to us, but I am glad we decided to deliver where we have. I don’t think we’d be as happy anywhere else.
- We also started our Birth Classes last week. We are taking them through the hospital and they have been very informative. Most of the information is brand new to Kyle and I know he is enjoying soaking it all in.
Everything Else
(I hate to have a general category for everything else, but it seems like our life is revolving around Jonathan and there isn’t much else going on in our lives at this time!)
- My grandma passed away in June. That was a hard time for all of us, but I know she is in a much better place now.
- At the beginning of the month, Kyle went to Reno, NV with some of my family for my cousin’s wedding (he was a groomsman). He had an awesome time! (I decided not to go because I didn’t want to travel at 27 weeks pregnant)
- In about 3 weeks I will be starting classes at Michigan State University. I will be doing an online program working toward my Master of Science in Law Enforcement Intelligence and Analysis (LEIA). I am really looking forward to those classes starting. I really miss school!
Other than that, we haven’t been up to much lately. We are just trying to enjoy every day!

So, I just finished my first week of MSCJ (Master of Science in Criminal Justice) classes at the University of North Florida. I started the week signed up for two classes and after the past four days I decided to drop one of the classes (for a full refund, of course!).
In my opinion, MSCJ classes should not be offered during the summer. Well, if they are offered during the summer, they at least should not be offered during a 6-week term!
This is the work I had for the course I dropped:
- Four books for a 6-week term
- Weekly essay quizzes
- Two essay exams (one midterm, one cumulative final)
Yeah, interesting course, not enough time to do the work.
This is the work I have for the class I am still enrolled in:
- Two books for a 6-week term
- One 3-5 page paper
- One 15 page paper
- Two take-home essay exams (one midterm, one final)
Yeah, one class is enough for the next six weeks!

So, there is a lot going on for me this week. I finally submitted my Grad School application this past Saturday. The whole decision process can take awhile, but hopefully I will hear back from UNF soon. Also, I submitted an application for a new part-time job. It is an administrative position and it is 20 hours per week and would work perfectly with my school schedule (if I get accepted, of course!). I love working at Pottery Barn, but this is a better opportunity because it is with a Criminal Justice/Social Welfare agency. In fact, I would still work at Pottery Barn on Saturday mornings/afternoons. I will keep everyone updated about my school/job situation.
This Friday I will be cutting my hair… finally. The last time I cut my hair was last July. It may not be considered long for a lot of people, but my hair is past my shoulders and too long for me! I cannot wait to have it chopped off! Then I leave Saturday for South Carolina. My mom and I are going up there Saturday and Sunday for my friend Elaine’s bridal shower. Monday is mine and Kyle’s one year wedding anniversary! Yay, we are so excited! Then, Tuesday evening, Kyle and I leave for our week-long trip to Las Vegas. We cannot wait to have some fun and get away for awhile!
So, that’s a little bit of what’s going on and what’s coming up.
