Date Day – Round 2

Posted by Kyle Peterson on February 8, 2009

Liz and I had our second official “Date Day” on Saturday.  It was my turn to plan the day and surprise Liz with what we were doing.

First, we went to Panera for breakfast and got some bagels to go.  We then headed to Adventure Landing for a special they have on Saturday mornings.  You can pay $9 per person for unlimited miniature golf, laser tag, and 30 tokens from open till noon.  We got there about 9:30 and the parking lot was completely empty.  Liz was afraid they weren’t open but I knew they had to be.  We walked in and the place was deserted.  At first it was weird but then it turned out to be alright because we had the place to ourselves.

We played golf first which was great because it was a beautiful Saturday morning and we were the only ones there.  We then played a free-for-all game of laser tag.  I hadn’t played laser tag in a while and it was actually kind of freaky because you could barely see around dark corners and I was always waiting for someone to jump out at me and freak me out.  I had fun sneaking around trying to find Liz.  Liz got me good though because she learned the layout quickly and was able to sneak around to places I didn’t know she knew how to get to.

We played another round of golf and then went inside for the arcade.  We played 5 games of air hockey and then some ticket games.  We ended up giving our tickets to some kids that were there which seemed to make their day.

After Adventure Landing we went to the Town Center.  We had lunch at Firehouse and then sold some TV DVD series to MovieStop.  We then browsed Barnes and Noble and walked around some more in the beautiful weather.

Our last stop for the day was to Ritas.  We hadn’t been to Ritas in months because we swore it off a while back since we were getting it too much and it is a lot of points in Weight Watchers.  We sat outside and ate our Ritas while talking about the wonderful day we were having.

Later that night we watched “The Incredible Hulk”, the 2nd recent hulk movie, which Liz had gotten me for Christmas.  It was  a good movie and it ended our relaxing day spending time together.

Our First “D-Day”

Posted by Liz Peterson on October 28, 2008

Before Kyle and I were married, he would do romantic things every now and then: bring me flowers when I didn’t expect them, give me homemade cards for the holidays, surprise me with a poem he wrote, etc.  Since we got married a year and a half ago, and even a little before that, the romantic gestures died off.  I have to admit that I am to blame as well.  “Romanticism” works both ways!

Recently we decided that we would plan “surprise date days” (D-Days) for each other a few times a year.  We put a $50 limit on it so we would have to be somewhat creative.  This past Saturday (October 25th) I surprised Kyle with our first D-Day.  Well, I told him the day in advance, but what we did remained a surprise!

Here’s a little recap (with pictures) of our first D-Day!

First, we went to Panera and had bagels for breakfast.  I figured it would be a nice, light way to start the day.  We then went to The Cummer Museum of Art and Gardens in Riverside.  We went about five years ago with one of our college classes.  But, it was a lot different when there were 20 people walking the museum together!  I figured we could enjoy things more thoroughly with it being just the two of us.  We ended up spending two and a half hours walking around the museum and gardens.  Then, we went to The Loop Pizza Grill for lunch.  Kyle and I went there for our first date over six years (wow, six years!) ago!
