It’s Christmastime…

Posted by Liz Peterson on December 22, 2008

Christmas is this week and I am SO excited!  Here are a few things I am looking forward to:

  1. Wednesday is Christmas Eve.  Kyle and I will be starting some of our new traditions on this day.  We are going to watch “Miracle on 34th Street” (the 1990’s edition) and open our gifts to each other.  Even though it is just the two of us now, we will eventually have kids and Christmas will become more hectic than it already is.  Therefore, Kyle and I decided that each year we will set some time aside on Christmas Eve to open our gifts to each other… alone… in peace and quiet!
  2. This Wednesday we will also be attending our church’s Christmas Eve service and then heading over to my mom’s house for a Christmas Eve family get together.  We will have dinner and do a gift exchange (like a White Elephant exchange, except the new/gently used gifts are useful)!
  3. Thursday is Christmas.  Everyone (Kyle, me, my parents, my grandparents, and my aunt) will be heading over to Kyle’s parents’ house early in the morning to have breakfast, open gifts, spend time together, and then have Christmas lunch (I would say dinner, but we’ll be eating around 1:00pm)!  I love spending time with family and I am glad Kyle and I don’t have to choose between our parents for the holidays!
  4. Friday, December 26th, my parents and I will be heading to New Orleans for a few days.  It was a last minute trip (we planned it this past Saturday) and a big part of the trip is so my dad and I can be beating my brother in “States” and so my mom can tie him!  My brother has been to 47 States and after our trip my dad and I will have been to 48 States and my mom will have been to 47 States!

Well, I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas!  Enjoy spending time with your family and be thankful for everything you receive!

My Weight Loss Journey… So Far!

Posted by Liz Peterson on December 15, 2008

As many of you know, either by talking to me or by Kyle’s first comic, I am on Weight Watcher’s.  Say what you want to, it has been working for me!

I started this journey 15 weeks ago.  I saw a number on the scale that I was not happy with.  I had been unhappy with my body for some time, but it was the number I saw that pushed me over the edge.  I finally decided that I needed to lose some weight.  Not for anyone else, but for me and my husband.  I know Kyle will love me no matter what I look like, but I want to look HOT for him!  (Did I embarrass anyone?!)

So far, I have lost 16.5 pounds.  It took me awhile to see the difference.  Everyone else could see it, but not me.  I could tell my clothes were fitting differently, but that’s not the same as looking at your body and seeing the change.  I still would like to lose 17.5 pounds.  That will put me right in the middle of the healthy weight range for my height.

Please know that Weight Watcher’s is not a diet, but a lifestyle change.  I don’t get to eat a lot of things I used to (like a Five Guys hamburger), but I don’t really want to anymore!  I can still have a slice of cake or anything else I really want, it just means I have to eat less of everything else.  You just have to weigh the worth of eating something “bad” for you!

Well, I hope you enjoyed reading about my journey this far.  I will update again later on down the road to weight loss!

PS- I made it through Thanksgiving and Kyle’s Holiday Party at Dave & Buster’s without gaining weight.  The Holidays are NO EXCUSE to gain weight!  You can still have plenty of food and not gain.  The biggest thing is to watch what you are eating and take smaller portions of the more fattening items (or stay away from them completely)!

Life with the Petersons – Potty Training

Posted by Kyle Peterson on December 8, 2008

Our godson Ryan is a little over 3 years old now.  Just a little while ago everyone was working on getting him potty trained.  This occurred one day when he was starting to get the hang of it.

    Whew… What a Week!

Posted by Liz Peterson on December 6, 2008

So, I started my new job as a substitute teacher this week!  I subbed every day of the week (3 full days and 2 half days).  It was hard at first, but not because the students were bad.  It was extremely difficult getting used to waking up early and standing on my feet all day.  It was exhausting.  I used to stay up until midnight, but now when 10 o’clock rolls around, I am ready to crash.

I subbed at 4 different schools this week.  1 I absolutely loved and can’t wait to go back, 2 were okay, and 1 was horrible.  It will take me a little while to get fully used to working again, but I know that I will enjoy being a substitute.  Just thought I would share my new adventure with all of you.
