Demetri Martin The Comedian

I saw this episode Demetri Martin did on Comedy Central Presents a while ago and got a kick out of it.  Liz and I stayed up late one night watching some clips from some of his other bits and had a good time.  He’s got a weird sense of humor but he’s really witty and creative.

Word of the Day Haiku – 8/24/2008

A blog I used to read a lot had a section titled “Word of the Day Haikus”.  They would take the Word of the Day (wotd) from dictionary.com and use it in a haiku.  I thought it really helped you learn the wotd by making you put it to use.  It was also nice to take a moment and be creative.  I hope that I can do a wotd haiku at least once a week.

New Car Feature To Improve Communication Between Drivers

Have you ever been driving along and needed to turn up ahead but you were afraid other cars around you wouldn’t know you were about to turn?  Have you ever been stuck at a 4 way stop and wished you could indicate to others that you were turning?  Have you ever been driving on the highway and wanted to let others know that you were about to pull off onto the shoulder?

Well now you can!  A new car feature has been in development for -70 years and has been named “The Turn Signal”.  It is comprised of a lever that can be pushed up or down that controls lights on the left and right side of the car.  If you want to signal your left side you push the lever down, if you want to signal the right side you push the lever up.  For further instructions on using “The Turn Signal” please reference this article.

This new feature will come standard in all new car models and will magically appear in all old car models!

The success of this new feature will be based on its proper use.  This includes using it at appropriate times like changing lanes, turning, pulling on/off the road.  It also includes disabling it at appropriate times, like when you’ve completed any of the previously mentioned actions, so as to not render the intention of its indication as untrustworthy.

It’s Baby Time?

I am so amazed that things always happen in groups.  A lot of my friends were married between May and July 2005, then between December 2006 and June 2007, and most recently between May and August 2008.

The most recent “event” to come about is the pregnancy of at least four of my friends!  Three of them are due around the same time (March/April 2009).  It is so crazy to me, but I am happy for each couple as it is something that each one has been waiting for.

It is definitely not something Kyle and I are ready for.  When Kyle and I were first married, we discussed wanting to wait five years before having kids.  Now, a year and a half later, we still want to wait five years.  But, we also realize that it will happen when God wants it to happen so we are preparing ourselves to be surprised as well!
