Learning to Breathe

Posted by Liz Peterson on July 21, 2008

Whew! I can finally relax some. It’s all done! My brother finally got married Saturday, July 19th! Let me just recap the craziness of the past week for you…

Sunday, July 13th- My brother flew to Florida from Alaska. We went out to lunch with my mom’s family and my family. My aunt (mom’s sister), cousin, and his girlfriend flew to Florida from Nevada.

Monday, July 14th- I had to work in the morning, but I wasn’t feeling really well so I went home early. Then I spent most of the day sleeping!

Tuesday, July 15th- Still sick so I didn’t go into work. Then, Kyle and I had a Home Owner’s Association (HOA) meeting later in the evening… that lasted a couple hours! Also, my dad’s mom flew to Florida from Nevada.

Wednesday, July 16th- My cousin flew to Florida from Michigan. My brother, cousin, dad’s mom, and me went to lunch then spent the day at my parent’s house. Then we (mom, dad, grandma (dad’s mom), Ray, Victoria, 2 cousins, Kyle, and me) went out to dinner.

Thursday, July 17th- Went to breakfast with my dad’s side of the family. Spent the afternoon at my parent’s house. Also, my grandma’s (dad’s mom) two brothers and their wives flew to Florida from Michigan. Then we had a family dinner (tons of family!)! One of my cousins stayed over at mine and Kyle’s house.

Friday, July 18th- Went to breakfast then headed over to my parent’s house. I hung out with my mom and grandma (dad’s mom). We got manicures/pedicures and went to lunch. The guys (Ray, Kyle, 2 cousins, my dad, my grandpa, Victoria’s dad, and Victoria’s brother) went to Dave & Buster’s for a “guy day.” Later we headed to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Then Ray and one of my cousins stayed over at mine and Kyle’s house.

Saturday, July 19th- Slept in. Went to lunch. Hung out. Checked Ray into his and Victoria’s room for their wedding night! Then went to get ready for the wedding. On the way there we were behind a reckless driver who almost hit the center divider, jumped two curbs, and almost hit a couple in the lane next to us. He tried to get on base… he got arrested for drunk driving instead! Had a wedding. Took some pictures. Had dinner. Danced/hung out. Ray and Victoria left for their honeymoon. Cleaned up a little. Kyle and I stayed at a hotel next to the wedding place. We were glad because we were tired!

Sunday, July 20th- Slept in. Ate lunch. Had dessert. Drove home. Relaxed. Hung out.

The past week has been so busy with family. I love my family to death, but I am ready for a break! This past week was so much more hectic than the week before my wedding! I am glad it was now and not then. I will be posting a few pictures from the wedding whenever I get some. In the meantime, I hope everyone had a wonderful week.

Home Sweet Home!

Posted by Liz Peterson on July 1, 2008

Kyle and I returned home yesterday afternoon around 2:00pm from a week long trip to New York City, New Jersey, and Washington, DC. I posted a blog about our day in New York. Legally Blonde: The Musical was such a great show. The theater was in Times Square which was pretty neat as well. We really enjoyed our time in NYC, but we will need to make another trip up there so we can really see things.

We left early Friday morning to head over to New Jersey. We spent some time driving around Jersey and then went to the Rehearsal and Rehearsal Dinner. Saturday was a hectic day, but Elaine and Aaron’s wedding was beautiful and we had a blast!

Sunday morning we headed down to Washington, DC for a few hours. When we first arrived we headed over to the White House. There were a ton of police around and much of the area was blocked off. We weren’t sure what was happening so we started to head over to the Washington Monument. When we arrived at the other end of the Eclipse, we realized the commotion was because the President was flying in. We were able to see the President coming in and land. It was a pretty cool sight!

After that we headed over to the Washington Monument and then towards the WWII Memorial, Reflecting Pool, and Lincoln Memorial. We decided to take a tour of the city, but didn’t have a ton of time so we were going to stay on the bus. Because of that, they didn’t even charge us for tickets! It was nice to see a quick tour of the city, but we couldn’t get off or on so we didn’t get to see much, but we had fun anyway!

We finally left DC around 5:30pm and headed for home. Once we were south of Richmond, VA, we hit some storms. It got pretty bad a few times. We finally stopped for the night in Fayetteville, NC (where we stayed on our way up). We left early yesterday morning so we could make it home and have time to relax.

Although Kyle and I both had a wonderful time, we are definitely glad to be back home!
