I am posting this from our hotel in Midtown New York City! Oh yeah… we went out of town for those of you who do not know! We are currently in New York City, we got here last night (Wednesday).
We left Jacksonville on Tuesday evening and stayed in Fayetteville, North Carolina. We drove the rest of the way yesterday. It was a pretty smoothe ride… until we hit the Lincoln Tunnel… yeah… that was great… an hour and a half to go 5 miles…
Last night we went to a nice little local restaurant, a hole in the wall (literally) called “Ralph’s” (Italian Restaraunt). Then we walked to Times Square to see the pretty lights. It was great because Kyle and his mom have never seen NYC before so it was nice for them to experience it.
Today (Thursday) is really our only day in the city so we are going to do one of those Greyline tours so we can see most of the city. Then, tonight, we are going to see Legally Blonde: The Musical. We will have tons of pictures to post.
Tomorrow (Friday) and Saturday we will be in New Jersey for my friend Elaine’s wedding. Sunday we will be leaving Jersey and heading to Washington, DC. We will only be spending a few hours there, but it should still be nice. Then we will be leaving DC and head to Richmond, VA for dinner with one of my other friends. Then, it will be off to Fayetteville, NC again for the night. Then on Monday we will be heading back home!

Oh my… I just had to make this post because some of the things I say sometimes are funny… if I would just think before I spoke…
So, Kyle and I were watching a video our church put together for deployed fathers. As we were watching it, I said… “Do you notice how they all have children?…” Kyle goes, “Yeah, I think it’s because it’s a Father’s Day thing…”
This got me thinking about some other times I have made “stupid” comments.
One that sticks out is when I asked Kyle why the age 13 is when you are considered a teenager. I couldn’t understand why 10 wasn’t the beginning since it started with a “1.” Kyle informed me that it probably had to do with the fact that 13 is the first age with the word “teen” in it… yeah… another one of my “bright” moments!

Saturday morning we drove just south of Ocala to see our friends Josh and Cassidy get married. It was a very nice ceremony and I’m glad we got to be there to see it. They are going to St. Martin for their honeymoon so I hope they’re having a fun time!
We didn’t want to drive down there and back up in one day just for the wedding so we made it more of a trip by heading up to Daytona after the wedding and staying there for the night. We stayed at the Acapulco Hotel & Resort on the beach which turned out to be real nice. We got there around 5 and walked on the beach for a bit before going to Ruby Tuesday’s for dinner. After dinner we walked on the beach as the sun was setting and enjoyed the nice weather. Our room had a balcony and view of the beach so we sat on the balcony in the middle of the night and listened to the waves for a bit.
We had originally planned on going to see the lighthouse or the museum this morning but decided to just sleep in and rest. We ate at Moe’s for lunch and then finished the drive home so we could be back in Jacksonville to have Father’s Day dinner at Nero’s with our families.

A lot of people don’t know this about me, but I am terrified of thunderstorms. Seriously, TERRIFIED! It’s not the thunder and lightening that I’m afraid of, it’s the fact that there could be a tornado. If it looks like it may storm, I am glued to the Weather channel (the one on Comcast Ch. 30 where it is all weather, all the time!)! If I hear thunder during the night, the TV flips on. Just ask Kyle, he’ll tell you!
A few months ago (in March), my mom and I headed up to South Carolina for my friend Elaine’s bridal shower. 10 minutes after we got to our hotel, a tornado hit… I am not even kidding! My mom was staring out the window like it was nothing. Then I informed her that the “clouds” she was looking at was the tornado they were showing on TV. That got her to step away from the window and head downstairs to the first floor hallway. Yeah, not something I want to experience again.
Yesterday, Jacksonville was hit with some pretty severe storms. There were no reports of tornadoes that I am aware of, but there was hail (up to a penny/nickel in size) throughout the city. Well, it didn’t even rain at my house yesterday! I was so thankful that nothing happened! I would have been freaking out! Just talking about the weather is getting me worked up- haha!
