Big Buck Bunny Video

Posted by Kyle Peterson on May 30, 2008

I watched this cute video tonight.

Big Buck Bunny tells the story of a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps… and the rabbit ain’t no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.

It was created using Blender, “a free open source 3D content creation suite”. I had heard of Blender a long time ago and even downloaded it to try it out. Attempting to use all of my 3d creation knowledge, none, I tried playing with it but gave up when I couldn’t figure it out. Anyways, it seems to have developed well and has some people behind it.

The official website is www.bigbuckbunny.org and you can download the video for free there. Or you can watch it from some video sites. I suggest watching it on Vimeo by clicking the link below since you can watch it in nice HD!

Click here to watch the video. Make sure you turn HD on!

She Let Herself Go…

Posted by Liz Peterson on May 25, 2008

… And I am not talking about the song by George Strait!

I have found that plenty of men and women let themselves go after they have found “the one.” I think it is because they feel they already have the person, why should they try to impress them. I have been with Kyle for almost six years now and we’ve been married for just over one of those years.

I feel I have definitely stopped trying to impress Kyle. I recently realized that I should actually care more about myself because I have someone who loves me and I should want to keep myself up for his sake and mine!

So, remember, just because you have finally found “the one” doesn’t mean you should just let yourself go!

Huh, Interesting…

Not that anyone really cares, I mean, I didn’t even watch the show this season, but Whitney Thompson from Atlantic Beach won America’s Next Top Model. This is old news to some, and even pretty old news to me. The interesting thing (at least to me) is, her father, Chief Thompson from the Atlantic Beach Police Department, was my teacher at UNF for a few of my undergrad courses.

Kids Say the Darndest Things!

Posted by Liz Peterson on May 17, 2008

Some of you may remember a show Bill Cosby used to host titled “Kids Say the Darndest Things.”  If you don’t remember the show, it’s okay, the title of the show speaks for itself.  The following true story could definitely have been featured on the show!

My soon-to-be 3 year old Godson/cousin, Ryan, is in the process of being potty trained.  He will go potty on the toilet, but he doesn’t always tell you when he has to go.  Tricia asked Ryan if he had to go potty and he said no.  She said, “Well, I have to go,” thinking that he would follow her to the bathroom if he had to go.  She went into the bathroom and closed the door.

The next thing she heard was, “Tricia, don’t forget to hold your pee pee down!”

Yeah… that’s something we always tell Ryan so he doesn’t pee everywhere!  At least he is catching on!

Oh, the Insanity!

Posted by Liz Peterson on May 15, 2008

So, I just finished my first week of MSCJ (Master of Science in Criminal Justice) classes at the University of North Florida.  I started the week signed up for two classes and after the past four days I decided to drop one of the classes (for a full refund, of course!).

In my opinion, MSCJ classes should not be offered during the summer.  Well, if they are offered during the summer, they at least should not be offered during a 6-week term!

This is the work I had for the course I dropped:

  • Four books for a 6-week term
  • Weekly essay quizzes
  • Two essay exams (one midterm, one cumulative final)

Yeah, interesting course, not enough time to do the work.

This is the work I have for the class I am still enrolled in:

  • Two books for a 6-week term
  • One 3-5 page paper
  • One 15 page paper
  • Two take-home essay exams (one midterm, one final)

Yeah, one class is enough for the next six weeks!
